Quick Tips for QuickBooks
Often the keyboard can be quicker and
easier to use than the mouse. If you find yourself going
back and forth between the keyboard and mouse too often,
look for key strokes to accomplish the task.

Use the Enter
or Return key to move to another field, same as using
the tab key but easier for most to use. Check Preferences-Data
Entry, if your Enter key doesn't work this way.

the field you're in.
|
+ |

you for a date range to print out registers for checking,
receivables, etc., opens the print window for reports.
|
| |
Use
the Escape key instead of the Cancel button or those
little boxed X’s to back out of menus, sub-menus
and other screens. It’s easier to hit than
most alternatives.
|
| |
Opens
context sensitive help screens pertaining to the function
you are doing. When the cursor changes to a hand you
can obtain additional information.
|
+ |
Don't
forget the alt key and underlined letters on the menu
bar when keyboarding.
|
| |
After
opening a list, type the first letter of the name you
are seeking to move the list closer to the name you
are trying to find. This is faster than scrolling in
a large list.
|
|
Iconbar |
Customizing
the iconbar and making your own icons for functions
and reports you frequently use can be a real time saver.
|
|
Whoa! |
If
you're frequently over shooting buttons, improve your
aim by always using a good mouse pad and slowing down
the mouse through the Control Panel settings.
|
| |
Don't
bother with the slashes when entering dates. QuickBooks
will add them
|
| |
The
+ and - keys will increase or decrease a date, check
number, invoice number, etc. This is real handy for
minor changes to those fields and less error prone
than re-entry.

Calculator |
Computations
can be accomplished right in the value field by using
the operators (+, -, *, /, =,) instead of your desk
calculator.
